April 1, 2008 Dear Supporter and Friend: The Ruby Hill Giving Thanks Charity Committee is starting its annual drive for individual and company sponsorship for this year’s event, FIESTA MEXICANA, taking place at the Ruby Hill Pool and Community Center on Friday, June 6, 2008. We are proud to announce something a little different this year… a less formal and equally as fun Mexican Fiesta. In our 11th year, we are taking a break from the black-tie and celebrating with margaritas, friends and frivolity. We are asking for your support to help us support the following worthy cause: ValleyCare Medical Center – Emergency Room Expansion Project: ValleyCare Foundation is dedicated to keeping quality health care available to all of us in the Tri-Valley. Funds raised this year will be dedicated to ValleyCare’s Emergency Room Renovation, a $7.8 million project funded by ValleyCare Foundation, Alameda County and the generous support of the community. From 1991 to 2005, the number of emergency room visits at ValleyCare has more than doubled from 13,000 to 30,000 annually. Approximately 11% of these visits serve non-insured charitable cases. The renovation project will expand and update the ER facility and is vital for the continued delivery of state of the art health care in our community. Over the last 10 years, the Ruby Hill Giving Thanks Charity Committee has given over $2.5 million to local charities that support children and families. The group’s signature event, the Ruby Hill Giving Thanks Charity Ball, has become one of the most successful and impactful charity events in the East Bay. Our annual events draw an impressive demographic, consisting of Silicon Valley and other leading Bay Area executives, entrepreneurs and altruistic individuals. Event sponsorship has consistently been provided by local and bay area companies as well as families and foundations, and has long proven to be a great way to support the community. The Ruby Hill Giving Thanks Charity committee is an all-volunteer organization, which draws from the gated Ruby Hill community, as well as others in the Tri-Valley community.
